Anoushka Shankar
Anoushka Shankar is an Indian-born British American singer and musician, is well known for her musical talents. She was the first person within her age bracket to receive an award from the British House of Commons Staff. Anoushka Shankar is among India's rising stars in the sitar. She is the student and daughter to Ravi Shankar. She spent her childhood bouncing between London and New Delhi. The first time she performed was at New Delhi at the tender age of thirteen. She then moved to Encinitas CA, where she obtained her High School diploma with honors in the year 1999. Even though she's very young, Anouskha is an accomplished performer and recording. She often joins her father during performances, something she has been doing for quite a few years. She released her first single album Anourag in the year 1998. In 2002, she released her Grammy nominated album Live at Carnegie Hall. Her stage career is very vast as she has performed in most of the biggest venues in the world. Anoushka Shakar's work is not only limited to music. She also published Bapi The love of my life in the year 2002. The book is a biography that pays tribute to her father Ravi Shankar. Also, in a number of films. In 2003, she was in the movie Dance Like a Man where she is a young Bharat Natyam performer. Her career continues to grow and she'll continue to do many great things in the future. Anoushka Shankar was born in England and spent the majority of her early years in London and Delhi later relocating to California in the state where she attended high school. Anoushka started her music studies at the age of nine. After four years she played her first appearance on the sitar in Delhi for her father's 70th birthday party. The father of Anoushka travelled the globe with her, and she gained many experiences. When she was still in her teens, Anoushka performed at Carnegie Hall at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD Music Festival. As a tribute to her status as an outstanding musician in the field of Asian Arts, she was awarded the House of Commons Shield by British Parliament.
